Highlands Fall Festival 2023
(see Photos below)
Our 2nd annual Fall Festival has come and gone and was a great success. The "neighborhood experience" on NE 141st Circle is unbelievable. Each neighbor contributed to the event in separate, but important ways. One took it upon himself to get his blower out and clear all the leaves from the sidewalk and street of the entire neighborhood. Another couple of neighbors brought out trash containers. Yet others brought out tables and tents and ice chests, even soccer balls, footballs and other outdoor fun for the kids. Finally, when I was unable to keep up with the demand for burgers and hot dogs, another neighbor brought out a second grill and helped me catch up.
The weather was beautiful, perhaps the last really good day for the season. Everyone had a good time and enjoyed the company. We even managed to hold the event on a Sunday that the Seahawks didn't play.
If you did not come this year, try to come next year as time passes by too quickly to not enjoy our neighborhood and neighbors to the fullest. As you can see from the photos, it really does look like a family reunion. Next year will be even better because we're inviting Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift! Okay, maybe not.
Many thanks to Mona Moyer for taking the photos for the event and posting them on this site. Special thanks to Michelle Davis and Jan Long who helped with the planning and the execution of the festival. They are all great volunteers, and we are looking to do even more "Social Committee" activities in the future.
